  • KBFS offers several advanced training courses designed to enhance your skills as a professional pilot and make yourself more marketable as a commercial helicopter pilot.
  • Current courses offered are:
    • Vertical Reference Training
      • KBFS Aircraft are configured to conduct critical Vertical Reference Training which is required to pursue a career flying in support of the Forest Service or Department of Interior
      • The course includes a minimum of 10 hours of Vertical Reference Training and prepares the pilot to successfully complete OAS carding with the Forest Service
      • Additionally the pilot will be trained to conduct various external load operations necessary for employment in the several markets to include building and power line construction
    • Turbine Transitions
      • Focuses on starting and emergency procedures associated with operation of a turbine engine.
      • Minimum of 5 hours dual instruction in a Turbine Powered Helicopter.
      • 2 Hours of instruction using a simulator for critical starting procedures and can replicate various emergency procedures
    • Cockpit Resource Management
      • This course is designed to provide the pilot with a management system which makes optimum use of all available resources – equipment, procedures and people – to promote safety and enhance the efficiency of operations.
      • CRM focuses on interpersonal communication, leadership, and decision making in the cockpit.
