/KBFS Completes MD-530F Training in Temple, TX

Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS), S3’s wholly owned subsidiary, completed another MD-530F aircraft qualification course for the USAF on April 23, 2020.  This training was the first USAF course conducted by KBFS in Temple, TX, this calendar year.  However, the Temple training campus has completed several courses this Fiscal Year that included the U.S. Army, other defense contractors, and first responders.  The Army course uses the same training curriculum developed by KBFS for the USAF Air Education Training Command.  Military graduates of the KBFS training are generally enroute to in-theater assignments in Afghanistan or to Middle East Partner Nations engaged in US Foreign Military Sales programs.

Since 2013, KBFS has presented a variety of MD-530F training programs, inclusive of basic pilot qualification through advanced tactical training.  The KBFS approved training curriculum comprehensively covers the MD-530F aircraft systems, performance planning, terrain flight mission planning and execution, emergency procedures training, advanced maneuvers, time on target (TOT) engagements, introduction to weapons delivery approaches, and tactical employment.

KBFS has qualified nearly three dozen pilots in the Temple, TX based MD-530F training program(s) over the past five years with more than half of that total completing the customer tailored USAF program.  Additionally, KBFS supported the Saudi Arabia Ministry of National Guard student pilot training in the MD-530F from 2013 through 2019 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

For USA and USAF courses, please contact Senior Program Manager, Marcel Benoit, in Crestview, FL at 850-398-8699.

Receives Nunn-Perry Award

System Studies & Simulation, Inc. (S3) is pleased to announce that the Department of Defense (DoD) has honored the company with a Nunn-Perry Award for excellence in the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program.  The award is in recognition of S3’s collaboration with R2C, LLC, our small business protégé, to increase the protégé’s growth in the DoD market, and to improve its business processes and systems in support of US military customers.

S3/R2C’s Nunn-Perry Award is one of only six Awards made for Fiscal Year 2019 from a total of eleven nominations.  Under S3’s mentorship, R2C increased the size of its workforce by 57%; realized more than 62% growth in total annual revenue; received its AS9100 Revision D and ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management Certifications; and rolled out a new, professionally designed Website which will significantly improve R2C’s messaging and branding.

The Nunn-Perry Award is named in honor of former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn, who sponsored legislation to enact the Mentor-Protégé Program in 1991, and former Secretary of Defense, William Perry. The Nunn-Perry Award is the highest honor companies can receive in the program.  Winning companies will receive their awards during the DoD Mentor-Protégé Training Week Workshop currently scheduled for August 2020.

/Kachemak Bay Announces Move to New Hangar

KBFS – Hanger 11

Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) recently moved its Part 141 flight training and Part 135 On-Demand Transport operations.  S3’s wholly-owned subsidiary for commercial aviation operations did not leave Draughon-Miller Airport in Temple, TX – just moved these operations to the other side of the airport to Hangar 11 where flight training and transport are now only two doors down from KBFS’ Part 145 Avionics Repair Station.  KBFS sought to move operations during the late summer to more closely consolidate administrative and management functions for the multiple certificates it currently holds from the Federal Aviation Administration.  In the near future, once approved by the FAA Flight Standards District Office in San Antonio, the Part 145 Repair Station will also occupy Hangar 11, leaving Hangar 10 to accommodate only general aviation inspections and maintenance.  This consolidation in Hangar 11 will have the needed side effect of allowing faster scheduled services for aircraft owners who require work not associated with avionics.  All avionics installations and repairs will occur in Hangar 11 once FSDO approval is received.
